Atlantis
Going to the Bahama's for the first time in Oct staying at the Atlantis. Any guesses as to what the construction will be like at that time? I've heard Paradise Island is all torn up now. Any info on Atlantis would be appreciated.
Dan

Hi;

I just returned from a day trip to Nassau, where I took a water taxi over to Paradise Island/Atlantis to do some gambling. Yes, a lot of the roadway is torn up, and the initial entry into Paradise Island from the bridge is hot and dusty; but once you got inside the hotel/casino, you would never know there was any construction. Others have told me that you can see some construction from the pool area, but it's not overwhelming.

Good luck!

Just got back from Paradise Island from Dive trip with wife and daughter. We stayed at the Comfort Suites, across the street. The other person was right; much construction going on, but once inside the complex, you're not bothered by it. Huge cranes are shuffling heavy loads around but on the Casino Drive side. The pool, beach areas, casino and basic grounds are undisturbed.Their constructing an underground casino, and most of the construction activity is facing casino drive and the Paradise Island bridge. I don't know what the rooms are like, though, because we stayed at another hotel across the street. We walked across Casino Drive directly into the casino, walked through it to the interior of the gardens, pools, etc. Construction was no problem. I'd suggest, however, that you get a room on the opposite side of the construction site, facing the interior of the complex. Better to look at lush vegetation and waterways than cranes and scraped out earth. Enjoy the grounds. Bob.
