Jolande: The biggest casino is the Alhambra, while the others belong to hotels, such as the Americana, Holiday Inn, etc. I've been there twice and you have some choices: The best, I think are on Palm Beach. There's quite a few there, such as the Wyndham (tallest hotel, nice pool, beach, etc), the Americana (twin towers, nice pool, casino, all-inclusive only, etc.), the Marriott (probably the best), the Playa Linda (time-share, real nice), the Holiday Inn (more basic than the others, less expensive), the Radisson (nice place, also) among others. You really can't go wrong on Palm Beach. A lot of people go for the "all-inclusive", but I think that if you eat and drink alot and don't mind eating at the same hotel, do it. We didn't and what we did was eat a good breakfast and usually ate a real nice dinner where and when we wanted since Aruba has some great restaurants like, Mama Mias, the Buccaneer, the Windmill, La Dolce Vita, etc. This way, instead of paying $1,400.00 US for two people for one week, we probably spent half of that. Use the money on snorkel and sunset trips instead. Also, rent some small motorcycles and drive over to the Casabari and the Natural Bridge on the windward side. It's cool! Have fun!

Palm Beach is the best on Aruba. We stayed at the Marriot 2 years ago and it was very nice. It is the last resort allowed on that strip so it is less crowded than most at the beach. The attendants will set up a cabana with lounges if you wish, the water is crystal calm, and their summer months are Jan./Feb. The pools have a swim up bar and waterfalls and the casino is very convenient. There is good bus service available just across the street or taxis are reasonable. We were disappointed with the natural bridge but enjoyed a day at Baby Beach, the snorkeling off the beach wasn't great but it is beautiful there and a nice drive. We enjoyed renting a jeep and exploring . The people are wonderful, it feels very safe. Have a great time.

The two nicest hi-rise hotels are the Marriott and the Hyatt. Both are ideal for a honeymoon. Suggest you try the following site address...these have been the best prices we've found for Aruba (and some other destinations as well):

http://www.travelunlimited.com

You will love Aruba!

We stayed at LaCabana All Suites Resort an absolutely beautiful place. It's listed as a 5 Star Resort in our timeshare directory. The suites all have kitchens which is nice if you don't want to go all-inclusive. Most people advise not to go all-inclusive as there are so many great restaurants. We ate all our breakfasts in and also a few lunches and then we ate out for dinner. Had delicious meals at Buccaneer, The Outback and Tony Roma's. LaCabana has a website at www.lacabana.com.
And a good website for all the info. you could want about Aruba is www.arubatourism.com/ Enjoy Aruba! Val

My husband and I have been to Aruba twice - both times for New Year's Eve - and consider this our favorite vacation destination. A very clean island, with beautiful people and beaches.

On our last trip, we stayed at the Sonesta Suites hotel in the downtown section (not to be confused with its sister hotel the Sonesta Hotel). The rooms are all suites, so you do have two nice size rooms and a kitchen area with a fridge.

Our favorite part of this resort is the private island. You walk over to the Sonesta Hotel and a boat takes you out to the hotel's private island. It was wonderful. There are places on the island that make you feel like you have the island to yourself. And they have food and beverage service and water activities. We did some snorkelling and took a nap on a hammock.

And the resort is a great location to sample a lot of the nice restaurants in the downtown area. And there are two casinos there too.

Would definitely recommend a jeep rental or moped rental to view the beauty of the island.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to e-mail me.
