Aruba wind

How windy is windy??? We had settled on going to Aruba for 2 weeks sometime in Jan.-March and a friend told us the wind was so miserable that it made Aruba unenjoyable. We aren't into wind surfing, just beach bumming, exploring, and eating.

We were in Aruba a few years ago and while it was windy, it didn't annoy me. I expect wind while in the islands. We took a sunset sail and that was very windy, again...to be expected. We also hang at the beach and explore and we had a very nice trip. I guess what I am saying is that I wouldn't let the wind change my plans. Oh, if it matters we were at the Marriott Stellaris side of the island, so I don't know about other locations.

I visited Aruba in February, and sitting on the beach on the more windy side of the island was a little unpleasant, but there are lots of beaches to choose from. Other than the stinging sand, the wind was not a problem.

I was very worried about it being too windy. We went two years ago and also stayed at the marriott stellaris hotel. It was a constant wind, but not at all in a bad way. If it weren't breezy, you would die of the heat! It was never annoying and the sand never blew at me. I think it is windier south of the marriott. Down near the old Wyndam hotel, (I think it is now a westin?) It was much windier. It must be the way the island juts out there. I thought Aruba was a fun relaxing vacation with constant sunshine and the wind was not bothersome at all!

We went last April, and stayed at the Radisson. There was a definite and constant wind all day and night. During the day, it didn't bother us at all. At night, I stopped bothering to blow-dry to "do" my hair! Seriously, we didn't mind it, but friends of ours stayed down the beach near the Wyndham and were pelted with sand and wind all day.

I was in Aruba in January and the wind was very unpleasant where I was staying (Westin), but locals told me (and I observed) that it was less windy at other hotels and beaches, but the Westin just seems to be at a "sweet spot" for wind.
