I stayed at the Amsterdam Manor a couple of years ago and really loved it. The beach is across a road, but it's no big deal at all. You're out your door and literally on the beach, settled in your chair in 2 minutes. It's nice that all the rooms are suites with fridges. It's not fancy, but it's clean and reasonable. Plus the beach is never crowded. Plenty of room to spread out and plenty of trees to plop down under.

The least expensive beachfront hotel we could find was the Manchebo Beach Resort and we were VERY happy with it. Low-key, 70 rooms, nice people, fantastic stretch of beach.

Cheapest beachfront place with a kitchen (actually, across small road from the beach) seems to be Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort.

As a Travel Agent I inspected about 12 or 13 hotels in Aruba last May.
Buchuti is a very Popular Hotel on a gorgeous beach right next to Manchebo.
I rarely get negative comments about it.
We stayed at the Tamajrin. I loved it, which suprised me since I am used to staying at 5 or 6 star Highrise Hotels.
The Tam and Buchuti are not fancy, but very clean and friendly.

Sorry for the spelling error. This board does not have spell check or an edit button, so if you make a mistake, you cannot correct it.
Lois-there is no need to attack someone trying to help another. In reading this board Fodorites seem to be some of the rudest people in the world.

Joyce, you are so right! I don't think it is here so much on the Caribbean message board but definately on the U.S. board. Very rude posters! I have a suggestion for mispelled words. When you think you have a mispelled word, just go to your write mail & type it in there & it should tell you if it is mispelled, then right click or copt it & reansfer it to your reply. Hope that works for you.
