any advice on traveling
hello~we recently booked our honeymoon to St. Lucia for November and are excited about going to such a beautiful place. We will be renting a villa *Hermitage* in Soufriere with 4 other people for a week. We realize that the roads can be quite bad and that is not a problem. Is it worthwhile to rent a jeep/car or is it much safer to take taxis? Also, we love to snorkel/mountain bike, has anyone who stayed at Anse Chastanest done the mountain bike jungle tour they offer? Also, how accesible is the A/C beach to people not staying at the resort? Thank you in advance for any help....

There is a road to A/C but not as fun as the water taxi. You should also take the water taxi to the Hilton. That beach is imported white sand and lies between the Pitons. We loved both beaches.
We debated about renting a car vs. a taxi. We finally decided to taxi everywhere. It worked out wonderful. It was very cost effective especially if you go with other people. We mainly used the taxi service that works with the souvenir shop down on the harbor. We asked at times to have them pick us up a a certain time, take us someplace and come back a another time. They were always on time and gave us a lot of insight into the area. They will tell you the fee up front for one-way or RT.
You should book a Rain Forest tour through Ladera. They guy (I think his name is Ben) will take you in his jeep and give you a wonderful tour.
Have lots of fun!

Craig~I think we are leaning towards using the taxi's while we're on the island. Whereas, we have 6 people we can split the cost on most trips and it's nice to know the taxi drivers are helpful as well as prompt. Thanks for mentioning the rain forest tour, we will try booking that through Ladera as you suggested. It sounds like you enjoyed your time in St. Lucia, I appreciate your help!
