Anguilla restaurants

My wife and I will be visiting Anguilla next month for a week and will be staying on Shoal Bay. I'd very much it if someone would suggest an upperscale restaurant for us to visit on our first night there that isnt too far of a drive. (we have a car) We will be arriving early afternoon and will have plenty of time to get settled but then would like to head out for drinks and dinner in a pretty (prefer a view) atmosphere. 15-20 min drive max would be nice if there is such a place. We like eclectic, forward thinking places that push the envelope a little. Serving great martinis and wine would be nice too ! Also.....is there a taxi/driver service on the island in case we want to go that route an evening or two? Thanks in advance!!

Hibernia is about 8 minutes away in Island Harbour -- very eclectic menu!

I can't wait to go back to Veya - everything but a view. The restaurant itself is pretty.

Hibernia is the closest upscale restaurant to SBE.

Like absolutkz, I love Veya. In our three visits it was superb in every way--ambience, food, service--basically the total package. If you have a chance, I highly recommend trying it.

As for a taxi service, you bet. You'll have to take a taxi from the airport unless you have a friend picking you up, so whoever that it, you can use him (it's 99% likely to be a man) for your future taxi needs, or he could recommend a friend.

Seconding (thirding?) the vote for Veya. But if a view is important, go down to the beach in Road Bay and try the Barrelstay -- one of the best meals we had on Anguilla (after Veya, which was the best).

Fourthing Barrel Stay. It's just awesome! We loved it and very romantic. The owners are the best. You would love it.
