All-inclusive Starfish Resort

I do not see any current information about the Starfish Trelawny Resort. My husband and I just got info about a deal that would be $600.00 for a 5 night stay including air. Is this a nice property and is this a good deal??

Try reading the trip report here. Seems like the price is cheap for a reason.

mibrownidgirl,

I know of a few people that love Starfish Trelawny, I can get them in contact with you. From there pictures, the place looks like it would be a lot of fun and beach looks great.

How in the world can you beat the price! Sure the rooms are not the Ritz, not even close but for a beach vacation which does include some desent food and drinks.

We get great air fare out of Chicago to Jamaica some times but the average is $299 p/p so subtract that from your cost and then tell me where in the world you can go for $300 or $600 for two, for 5 days and eat also? How bad does this place have to be to make $300 not a good deal?

Donna

Have you looked at any pics of the place?

If all you want is sun, o.k. But this is very much a you-get-what-you-pay-for-place.

Agree with Tiv. We booked there once and transferred 2 days later to the Jamaica Grande. The beach is pretty rough (windy and choppy), the food very so-so (frozen waffles, e.g.). I'd skip it.

I do agree that Starfish is in line with you-get-what-you-pay-for type of resort, but I also think sometimes, people are just trying to get-away on a budget and you really would have a hard time beating that price anywhere.

You can pay quadruple and more at a Sandals/Beaches and come back disappointed. Same complaints coming from their resorts.

I would have much rathered paid $1,200 for a week in a ok room, with ok food, then to pay $5,800 and have a motel 6 room and ok food for the week.

At least at Starfish you-get-what-you-pay-for. How could you not?

Sure, they're a lot of great places to stay if you want to spend more!

FYI when we switched to the Ja. Grande from Trelawny it was about $200.00 more and we felt the overall qualitative difference was significant. Some folks we met at Tre. who had been regulars there felt things had gone downhill a bit.

A hotel, of course, does not be your final destination. Sometimes, given the price, it's a good 'base camp'. I'd take the rate, ignore the place for anything for breakfast and sleeping and maybe a day blissing out in the sun
--and then hire a private guide to go exploring daily to beaches, inland, restaurants, horseback, gallery shopping--whatever you fancy. Then, the low price at Starfish wouldn't necessarily have to determine your satisfying holiday with airfare incl.
