Air at Caneel Bay??!!

Please try to reassure me air conditioning is not a big issue at Caneel Bay. Better yet, reassure my wife. Have heard nothing but great things about the resort. Is it that great and COOL!

You pose a very difficult question to answer. If you do not like warm somewhat humid weather and enjoy sleeping under a ceiling fan nude with just a sheet, you will not be happy at Caneel Bay. If you are not a person that would enjoy the nature oriented concept started by the Rock Resorts, you will not be happy with Caneel Bay. It is all a matter of your interests and what you enjoy. If you enjoy warm air, the sounds of the sea and insects, warm ocean, good food and a beautiful garden setting, you will love Caneel Bay.

Just an after thought -- I think that Little Dix has some air conditioned units. I think this may be a better choice for you than Caneel Bay. They are owned by the same people as Caneel Bay and they were both Rock Resorts at one time. Both places have their own special charms. If you go to Caneel Bay get a unit down by the water it has more breeze there.

Update. Most of Caneel Bay's rooms are Air Conditioned. This is a new feature to the beautiful resort nestled in the National Park amidst 7 beautiful beaches to choose from. When making your reservations, just ask for a room with A/C and the staff and Caneel will be more than happy to assist you. Their staff is the best I have seen in the USVI. Enjoy your stay on one of my favorite islands.
At this point I would call Rosewood Hotels at 1-888-767-3966 and confirm if A/C is available. I don't doubt the previous posting but Caneel Bay's web site updated on Oct. 30, 1998 still indicated that all rooms are without air conditioning.

I stayed at Caneel Bay for a week about two months ago around Labor Day weekend. There were no air-conditioned rooms at that time. However, we were told by several staff members that the installation of air-conditioning was about to begin starting with the beachfront rooms. I have heard that about 10 rooms now have air-conditioning. We stayed at a beachfront room and it was HOT! The three fans were just not enough. It is every bit a great resort and air-conditioning is not
needed from now until about April. The beaches at the resort are extraordinary.
You will fall asleep to gentle caribbean waves and awaken to birds chirping outside your screen window. The
service is second to known and the food is excellent. There are plenty of activities or none if you wish. There are no phones or televisions in your room. It is a place that forces you to take a vacation. I guarantee that as you leave and a member of the staff waves goodbye from the Caneel dock as your private ferry pulls away, it will bring a tear to your eye. This is a paradise, but it don't come cheap. GO!
