I don't know The Grand Pineapple, so can't comment on the property. Couples Swept Away IS a really beautiful property on a gorgeous section of beach, but I never stay at AI's in Negril, and wouldn't recommend them unless you want/need a more Americanized kind of hotel.
There are lots of wonderful small boutique hotels on the best part of the beach ( COCO LA PALM and IDLE AWHILE are two of them) plus more hotels on the cliffs ( I happen to love ROCKHOUSE). And restaurants on the beach and cliffs are good and cheap.
Also IMHO, the AI's cut you off from interacting at all with most Jamaicans, which to me is one of the special pleasures of visiting Negril.
Anyway, have fun! Love Negril!

Who is going on this trip? Most of the AI's in Negril are geared toward couples. Check out reviews on TA for the Grand Pineapple. Not very many people on this forum like AI in Jamaica. I have been twice and did AI at the RIU in Negril and would not recommend that resort chain to anyone that wasn't looking for a budget friendly family or group vacation. We loved the Jewell Dunns River in Ocho Rios, but it's for couples.
