The Club St. Lucia offered a wide variety of food & restaurants. It was a great all-inclusive! They have 2 beaches. One of the beaches is more secluded.

Has anybody stayed at Ladera or Anset Chastenet in St. Lucia? I am planning on going to the island in October and simply can't make up my mind as where to stay. I don't like all inclusive at all! Any recommendations?

Lisa - Was happy to see your positive review of Rendezvous. Several messages have included much negative. I'm hoping you will share some additional info. How did you find the rooms? Size, decor, etc. We have rented an dlx. oceanfront cottage.

How was the food? Were there several diningrooms to choose from? Or wre you limited to one restaurant.

Did you snorkel? How about bike riding?

Please forward any info. Much appreciated!

eight years ago I stayed at Couples which is noe called Rendevous. We had a wonderful time. At that time there was only one restaurant, but plenty of choices in types of meals. The restaurant is very large and open air in some parts right on the beach. It was very enjoyable for every meal. We had a beach front room with a four poster bed, hammock on our private balacony. The bathroom was like no other that I have seen. Very large and all glass ( non see thu). There were all kinds of activites during the day and evening. At that time children were not allowed. I would highly recommend this resort. Be careful of Club St. Lucia. A friend of mine stayed there 2 years ago and they turned the water off during the day in the rooms . They claimed there was a water shortage on the island, but my friend checked into another hotel and found out this was not true. I think St. Lucia is a beautiful island and have plans to return next January.

Consider staying at Sandals Halcyon (the smaller and more intimate of the two Sandals resorts in St. Lucia) My fiance & I are going in September for our honeymoon. We did a lot of research and chose Halcyon because we wanted all-inclusive, but still intimate and romantic. We wanted lots of choices in dining and activity, but a smaller scale resort where you dont have to walk 5 minutes just to reach the beach or restaurants. The beach is better than the one at Sandals St. Lucia Golf Resort. It has 3 great restaurants to choose from, and ala carte dining, (we aren't fans of buffet every meal). I've also heard good things about Rendezvous and.. if you can afford it...Anse Chastanet sounds absolutely wonderful (they have both all inclusive and normal package prices to choose from)-looks like paradise! I would not recommend you go the the Wyndham, as the beach and water are supposed to be a real disappointment, etc... Fodor's book even says so?! Anyhow, wherever you choose will be nice, it's in St. Lucia after all. Hope this helps.

Club St. Lucia is great. Good food, 2 beaches, good snorkeling. It's all inclusive but the price is a lot less than sandals. Takes about 1 1/2 hrs from airport but is worth it. Don't miss Jump Up on Friday night. Great party!

We stayed at Cloud 9 iat Anse Chasenet 2 years ago --- the worst----300 steep steps to the beach. Food mediocre. The private chef was very poor... no AC..no radio, papers, tv...the roads were not paved so you could not go anywhere...Mosquito netting surrounds all the beds... covered with bugs in the am. The management doesn't care. They never responded to our letters or our response to their survey. NEVER AGAIN But the diving was good.

Cathy,
What did you think of Sandals St. Lucia? We're getting maried there this summer, did you talk to anyone who was married there? Can you recommend some tours? We have heard that there are some good ones on the island. Do you know if they charge for scuba resort courses? How was the food? Was there any difficulty getting water sport equipment (long lines or short usage periods)? What water sports did you do?
Thanks for all your help!
Jim and Dawn
