9 Beaches in Bermuda

Hello,

My husband and I plan to stay here for a long weekend in late November...is there any recent feedback on this resort?

Thank you!

I just booked Thanksgiving weekend at 9 Beaches via Travelocity. I felt it was a reasonable deal for a holiday weekend. Air fare is usually the killer going to Bermuda.

There are numerous good reviews on Trip Advisor. I think as long as you're prepared for the type of accomodations they offer and are a laid back type person you'll enjoy this resort.

If you're a froo froo hotel type, probably better to stay elsewhere.

Bermuda isn't at the top of my "must-see" islands, but I have to say that 9 Beaches intrigues me. I'm looking forward to your trip report, Trish!

ej, will be glad to report back. Bermuda isn't usually my first choice island either, but for a quick weekend getaway from NYC it's fun and just the right amount of time IMO.

9 Beaches looks cool. We're going to try to upgrade (willing to pay a little extra) to an overwater cottage when we arrive.

I'm also looking forward to your trip report. I know what you mean re: quick trip from NYC area. That part of it has also tempted me.

See yesterday's NY Times travel; there is a review of 9 Beaches--best described as mixed, but if you go it gives some very useful advice as to which "room" to request to avoid what sounds like noxious fumes from the neighboring dairy farm!

I'm very curious about this place as well.

We've been bombarded with advertisements from 9Beaches but have been very reluctant to try it because of what we have read about the "fumes".

So I look forward to your report Trish.

I did see one negative comment about "fumes" from adajcent farm on TripAdvisor. My understanding is that it's better to be out near the water (duh) than closer to the resort entrance. The odor issue is probably worse in summer than in November. I'll let you know.

This is definitely a laid back, very casual resort. My opinion on this is know what you're getting yourself into and you'll likely have a more positive experience. It's all about expectations.

I did spend my honeymoon in an eco-tent on St. John with composting toilet and solar shower. We loved it.

Can't wait to go so I can give a full report.

Sorry - but here's a negative report - on our last trip to Bermuda we were staying at the Pompano and we had leard a lot about 9 beaches - we asked around and not too many people liked it there even our taxi driver said he had just picked up a couple who were staying there and wanted to leave to go to another hotel - he just got finished transfering them. He said they said it was like staying in a tent and very noisey and the wind was coming in the "hut". I saw the pictures of them - we should have gone over there to see for ourselves - but we had just gotten back from Moorea and figured there was no way they could have been as nice.

It's all about having appropriate expectations.

It says right on their website that they are "soft sided cabanas".

Maybe "laid back" and Bermuda are not sononomous, but I don't really think there's any false advertising going on.

I totally agree. All about appropriate expectations and knowing what is right for you. I don't think it would be the place for me although I love the idea of over-the-water bungalows (can you tell I have a French Polynesia fantasy?!) Anyway, I think it's pretty clear 9 Beaches doesn't pretend to be one of those FP luxury places.

I'm especially interested in its location relative to restaurants.

Since transportation is limited (I have given up on mopeds, lol) to bus or taxi, I want to know how convenient it is to head out for dinner.

this is the NY Times article--you probably already looked it up, but it gives you the exact room numbers to ask for:

seetheworld--we were in Bermuda in June and it doesn't seem all that convenient to restaurants

hi, Trish. Just wanted to wish you a fabulous trip. No doubt you're looking forward to it even more since you've been stranded in MSP, as I read on another post! Can't wait for your trip report. I've not been to Bermuda and don't really have plans to go, but 9 Beaches is a place that has caught my eye.
