Whistler in April??

Planning a trip to Vancouver (Whistler for 3-4 days) and Seattle over 9 day period for April 10-17th....Is this too late in the season to get good skiing at Whistler; should we wait another year; or will there be plenty of runs still open...please comment

Hi Robert, I was just up at Whistler this weekend and there is lots of snow. I've skied there in early April before and usually the upper mountains have plenty of snow, but you will probably need to download on the gondola at the end of the day. A friend who was on this trip went in early MAY last year and had a great time (although last year was an especially good year for the snowpack). The glacier on Blackcomb usually stays open for skiing into July, so mid-April should still be quite good.

Let me know if you have questions on places to stay or eat up there (or in Vancouver or Seattle for that matter!).

Sheri

Yes, Sheri, I'd like your opinion on where to stay. If a person was going after the ski season though, would it be better to stay in Vancouver and just drive up for the day?

Hi April, in answer to your question, not necessarily! There's tons to do in Whistler in the summertime (mainly outdoor activities like hiking and rafting); I was up there for a weekend last summer and could have happily stayed longer.

What type of place, budget, etc. are you looking for? And is it for ski season or summer (I personally hate taking a bus to the slopes so I wouldn't stay outside of the village in the wintertime, but I would in the summer)?
