Which Ferry

Which ferry should we take to get back to Seattle on a Wednesday morning??
The Washington State Ferry (we will be taking it over to Sidney on the previous Sunday) to Anacortes then drive 2 hours OR the Black Ball Coho Ferry to Port Angeles and then drive 2 1/2 hours to Seattle?? Thank You!

It just depends on what you prefer. The crossing from Sidney takes 3 hours and the crossing to Pt Angeles is an hour and a half. You would see more driving from Pt Angeles than the drive down I 5 from Anacortes. So the total time is shorter going via Pt Angeles and will give you a change of scenery.

Yes, I'd take the Coho to see something different. You could make some stops in Olympic National Park on the way if you went via Port Angeles

Thank you so much - that really helps. Now I am wondering if we should take it both ways since it is shorter. The person we are with gets motion sickness and we are worried about the long trip from Anacortes to Sidney.

The trip is longer because there is a stop along the way. The water should be fine. I would stick with coming to Victoria via Anacortes and return via Port Angeles. Check the Anacortes schedule as they have added an extra sailing for the summer. (The Coho also has additional sailings for the summer as well)

I don't know about the Coho, but I know that the Clipper, a passenger-only ferry that travels much the same route, does tend to make people seasick. To be fair, I don't know if that has to do with the ship or the route. The Coho takes cars and therefore is heavier and perhaps that makes it more stable.

We use the Coho frequently and it is very very stable!! The only time it has had motion was during a winter storm.
