I'd use Priceline.com. If you look at the website www.biddingfortravel.com, there is a lot of helpful advice on how to use Priceline, including infomation on what other people have been getting rooms for on Priceline. I used it this summer for Vancouver and got a room at the Westin Bayshore for $52 U.S. and the hotel was great.

My wife and I stayed at The Slyvia hotel on English bay 2 blocks from Stanley park and across the street from the beach.Older hotel but great atmosphere and service, also about half the price of anything in the area.We loved it! Sylvia Hotel 604-681-9321 A friend in Calgary told us about it,it's where her mother always stays.Great patio too.Feel free to email me with any Questions.

I agree with the previous poster - go for the Sylvia. Though a bit rough around the edges in spots and in need of a paint job and update, the location is wonderful and it is nice and quiet. In addition to the park and waterfront, ethnic restaurants abound nearby and there are always lots of people out at night in the area. There are also lots of interesting shops in the area

Just returned from Vancouver - used both Pacific Palisades (HUGE rooms - good value) and Delta Vancouver Suites - again, very good value.

We Found the Hampton Inn across from the BC Stadium a great reasonable place to stay.

Listen to David Sue - use Priceline. I stayed at the Sheraton Wall Centre hotel last week for $35/night using Priceline. Definately look at www.biddingfortravel.com before bidding and use their bonus money link.

I love the Metropolitan on Howe near Georgia. It is nicer than the Four Seasons which is across the street and the rates are much lower. The restaurant (Diva's at the Met) is excellent.<BR>The first time I stayed there, Pierre Trudeau was checking in as I was checking out. That is as good a recommendation of class and economy as you can get.

I would definately recommend the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre. It is a great location in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Never been to the city before, and I was leary to rent a car. If you stay downtown you really don't need a car. Great staff at the Wall Centre as well.
