We want to take a day trip from Vancouver to Victoria. We won't have a car. What is the best way to get to the ferry and then to Butchart Gardens without taking a tour?

Pacific Coach Lines offers downtown Vancouver to downtown Victoria bus service (the bus goes on the ferry) and I believe they offer the option of dropping you off at the gardens.

Here is the website for schedules and fares for PCL. I don't think there is an option to be dropped at the gardens. PCL does have an excursion tour that includes the gardens. You will find that on their website as well. I

ileen - you can see from the schedule if you get an early bus you can spend most of the day in Victoria. The terminal in Victoria is right downtown in the heart of the tourist attractions so it is very convenient.

Another option might be a seaplane - not inexpensive but what a great add on to your trip
