Vancouver Next Week!
My husband and I are going to be in Vancouver this next week for 3 full days. Staying at The Waterfront and looking for some suggestions on restaurants (for dinner and lunch). Looking for a couple really nice restaurants and also some that are simply worth a visit. Any suggestions on an excursion via a ferry?
Thanks.

My restaurant faves are Le Crocodile, Lumiere, Bishops, C and Diva at the Met, in the "really nice" category. Rain City Grill is also good (a bit more casual), and I love the patio at Cin Cin for lunch if the weather is nice.

I've been hearing great things about Vij's (contemporary Indian) but haven't made it there yet. Phnom Penh in Chinatown is excellent for SE Asian cuisine. I also like Imperial Seafood for Hong Kong style Chinese (right near your hotel).

You'll be spoiled for choice! Vancouver has wonderful restaurants.

Hi,

My husband and I were in Vancouver a couple of years ago and also stayed at the Waterfront. What views! Even the bathroom had a huge floor to ceiling window with a view of the City and the room had a view of the water.
We dined at Star Anise which was trendy at the time. It was great. We were looking for something a little more casual one night and went to a "brewery" restaurant which I cannot remember the name but it was within walking distance of the Hotel. The restaurant had great veiws of the harbor and the bar had flooer cuchions around a fireplace. There was also a Martini bar. The Hotel I'm sure can get you the name. Don't miss Granville Island.

I would highly recommend Villa de Lupo for Italian food. It is a little more on the expensive side but very, very good. If you enjoy Vietnamese food I would suggest Phenom Pehn. Try their hot and sour soup and the deep fried squid. Absolutely delicious!

Mary, I think you might be talking about Steamworks Brewery.

My suggestions: There are really too many to name. Vancouver truly is (in my opinion) a city of world class restaurants with dozens of ethic cuisines...

The Georgia Straight should have their "Best of Vancouver" edition out by the time you get here.... it's the free Arts & Entertainment newspaper. Pick up a copy (they're around everywhere) and see what they have to say. The restaurants mentioned were voted there by the locals. (www.straight.com is the Georgia Straight website).

However, if you go to http://www.vanmag.com/diningout/default.html
you'll be able to read up Vancouver Magazine's respected list of what the city has to offer restaurant-wise.

Give that Vancouver Magazine website a look - the info's quite accurate,
