VANCOUVER HOTELS
WE NEED TO CHOOSE BETWEEN SHERATON SUITES SOLEIL, HOTEL VANCOUVER OR SUTTON PLACE WHEN STAYING FOR 3 NIGHTS IN VANCOUVER BEFORE CRUISE. WE WILL NOT HAVE A CAR, SO LOCATION TO DOWNTOWN AND CRUISE PORT IS IMPORTANT. THERE IS ABOUT $20/PER NIGHT DIFFERENCE IN PRICE BETWEEN EACH WITH SHERATON THE LEAST EXPENSIVE AND SUTTON PLACE THE MOST. ANYONE STAYED AT THESE HOTELS AND YOUR OPINION PLEASE.

I respectfully disagree. Yes, the Hotel Vancouver is a landmark and a neat historical building. But, as is so often the case with the Canadian Pacific hotels, the best part IS the building and the lobby/public spaces. My experience was that it was just too big to have the type of excellent service one expects at a top-notch hotel, and that the rooms are disappointing compared to the lobby. I'd go for the Sutton Place mainly because their service standards are so high. Even though it's a big hotel, you almost feel like you are the only guest. I also liked the Sheraton Le Soleil, again, because of the service. It also has more of a cozy boutique hotel feeling to it than the other two.

As far as location goes, all three are within two or three blocks of each other, and very centrally located.

The Sutton Place has a reputation for being a hotel where any request will be taken care off. Thats why it gets alot of the entertainment industry's business. I remember seeing some news report about them having some sort of butler service for pets. Very service oriented hotel. The hotel restaurant also has a seafood buffet dinner on Fridays and Saturdays, for I think $23 which is a pretty good price.

I just returned from the Sutton Place yesterday having spent three nights there with the family. We stayed in the Le Grande Residence which included a full kitchen. The entire staff from the bellman to the concierge were more than helpful and you can't beat the location!
