Toronto Sheraton Centre - Location?

Would love input on whether the Sheraton Centre downtown is a good location (safety, convenience to public transport, parking if we have a car) in downtown Toronto for our six day vacation in July?

Absolutely. I always stay here when I go to Toronto. Toronto is very safe, and the area around the Sheraton is fine. Right across from City Hall, near the Queen Street neighborhood and Chinatown, close to the subway and streetcars.

It's just over may shoulder (well, three or four blocks)as I type, and is a very fine location for a visitor to the city.

If you see pictures of Toronto, the Sheraton is right across the street from the clam-shaped city hall.

Great, thanks MikeT and BAK. Glad to hear it. If we rent a car at the airport, is there anywhere close to the hotel to park besides the hotel parking garage (so pricey)? Is there on-the-street parking on weekends/holidays or a public overnight parking lot/garage nearby?

If we waited to rent just for a day or two after we got to the Sheraton, is there a Car Rental close by?

There is a city (municipal) lot across the street under the City Hall (aka Nathan Philips Square). 24 hours costs approx $18 during the week. (www.greenp.com/tpa)

It's easy to rent a car downtown, and chances are you won't need a car for most of your visit anyway.

You can take several cabs for the price of parking, and save the car rental fee, except for a day or two when it's a good idea.

That's the same place I got on Priceline for 3 days at the end of May. We're driving to Toronto and I wonder if it is better to park by the City Hall or with the Sheraton.

Thanks for telling me about the City Hall parking, it may be better for us than the Sheraton's.

The City Ha;ll garage and the Sheraton garage are, I believe, connected. And there's an underground walkway from the City Hall garage right into the underground store level of the Sheraton.
