Toronto: Need a casual but good downtown restaurant recommendation.

We will be staying at a hotel at 60 York, near the convention center. Would like to walk to a restaurant one night that has really good food, casual atmospher (we will be dressed in business attire that night post convention reception), maybe ethnic, somewhat quiet for conversation. Any hot suggestions? Not really into "trendy". Thanks.

There are two dozen good restaurants nearby.

Between the Strathcona and the convention centre there's a dozen restaurants along Front Street, which is a block south of the hotel.

From the Convention Centre, you can walk north on John Street to King Street West (a coupple of blocks) and there's another dozen restaurants on King Street, in the blocks running west from King and John. Or you could walk north on John another block or two.

Me? I'd go to Kit Kat at King and John (several doors west) or Club Lucky / Kit Kat Too on Jon Street, another block and a half north from King.

Thank you. Sounds like we won't have a problem. I knew I could count on my Canadian Fodor's friends.

"Maybe Marche at the BCE bldg?"

Only for people who miss eating in a cafeteria.
