Toronto in April

Hotel rates in Toronto travel up, down and sideways, often with no clear indication of why.

April is a big business moth; hotels that cater to business travellers won't be offring big discounts, but on the other hand, there are often hotel specials, so you should narrow your choice to a few hotels, and then ask about special family packages and other deals.

About crowds; it's a city where many families enjoy the family attractions, and when school is out, local families enjoy family outings just like visitors do.

If you want to get into a blockbuster kids' moivie, for instance, arrive early and get your tickets well in advance. Book theatre tickets (Lion King, for instance) early at (www.mirvish.com for Lion King, by the way)

But as far as moving around the city, getting on the subway, driving to the zoo, etc., it won't be any better or worse than normal, and it really is amazingly easy to get around the city, even by car, considering the size of Toronto.

Reduced traffic seems only to happen on ddays when government employees have the day off and the rest of the business world is at work.

Avoid rush hours, and you'll be fine, with the exceptions noted above.

American visitors report very good rates from Priceline, by the way.

BAK

We have big business moths in Toronto that we send to work beside the bankers, to eat holes in the wool, so that when the bankers pull the wool over your eyes, you can still see.

It takes visitors a while to cotton on to this idea.

However, in investing large sums of cash, mere insects can help prevent disaster, casting a light ray on your future financial happiness.

BAK

BAK

Hi Ray: April is one of those months that you will have to be prepared for all kinds of weather in Toronto. So make sure you have plans for inside activities, Science center etc and for outside ventures like China Town, Harbourfront. New block of tickets are out for Lion King also. I do not think that you will find to many crowds, unless the leafs and the raptors are making good runs at the playoffs, then you might find crowds at the Air Canada Center... we can only wish for that.
