Toronto Family Restaurants

We are staying at Sheraton Centre in Toronto this July with 4 older kids (10-15 yrs). I need some budget restaurants in the area for bkfst/lunch/dinner.

Hi, btv! Our son, who is 12, likes <BR>'The Old Spaghetti Factory' on The Eslanade for lunch/dinner. Let me think about this & I'll post back later. Downtown To. & 'budget'.....that's a challenge!!!

Someone needs to help me on this one. I remember a deli/restaurant that had a HUGE menu... more selections than you could ever desire. It was somewhat close to the Eaton Centre and I remember that it had a Pickle of some type on the menu/outside sign. It was wonderful!! There would be something there for every member of your family and the prices would not break the bank. Could someone please help me remember the name of this place..... It is driving me crazy!!!!

The Pickle Barrel. I had the big salad and there is no way a single person can finish it in one sitting. The one thing i found when visiting Toronto from Vancouver is that it seems to lack mid range restaurants. But i think Pickle Barrel is one of them and a great choice and value.

Shopsy's Deli at Front and Younge is a good place for a casual meal. It's a big deli with a big menu. Fun place for kids. You can even eat outside. <BR> <BR>It you're coming from the US, your dollars will go pretty far.

Depending on how far you are willing to go from the hotel: <BR>The #1 bargain family restaurant in Canada is thwe Swiss Chalet chain. The one quarter Rotesserie chicken dionner is the best bargain, but the ribs are good, and reasonable, too. There's a Swiss Chalet just east of the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Front Street, one at Bloor Street West and Bedford, near the Yorkville district and the Royal Ontario Museum, which is a must-see for smart mid-sized kids, and another near the Pickle Barrell on Yonge Stret, north of Dundas. <BR>Inside the Eaton Center, look for Mr. Greenjeans, up the escalator at the north end of the open mall area. <BR>The Peel Pub, on King Street just west of Duncan, and Shosy's, right next door, are two of the best breakfast places in town. Peel Pub is significantly cheaper, though. (It's kid friendly at breakfast and luch, and is a good lunch-time bargain. <BR>Hotdogs from street vendors with barbecues, and french fries from trucks, are both excellent, cheap, tasty lunches. The Lone Star, on Front near Simcoe, is fun, western theme, and reasonably priced. <BR>A final favorite: the Hot House CAfe, at Church Street and Front, has lots of items on the lunch and dinner menus starting under $10. <BR>Pizza slices from PizzaPizza are a bargain. <BR>Toronto restaurants all post menus outside, so you can check things before you go in. <BR>BAK
