Tofino or Bamfield

I am taking my first trip to BC this July. Any insights on Tofino and Bamfield? Should we visit both areas? Thanks.

To visit both is a LOT more driving than you know!
Suffice it to say that most people go to Tofino becuase it suits their needs, shops, restaurants and a great beach.
Bamfield is a remote outpost with quaint boardwalks, a few smaller beaches and access to some good day-hiking, although an Espresso Bar has been opened up in Bamfield for a while now.
Bamfiled is acessed via a gravel logging road, not most people's first choice.
It's possible to rent a skiff in Bamfield to explore Barkley Sound on your own, something you can't do in Tofino where 'the eco-tour ' rules supreme.
You may already have this link
http://www.bamfieldcommunity.com/
Tofino is nice, Ucluelet (about 10 miles away) is nicer - a little less insistent about being touristy, better souvenirs at better prices.

In Tofino, don't miss the Roy Wilkens (or Wilkers) gallery.

And do go walk in the rain forest between the two towns.

Bamfield can be accessed from Ucluelet. Phone Jamie's Whaling Station either there or in Tofino.

And don't believe anybody when they say Ucluelet is nicer than Tofino. Unless you like vacationing in a big clearcut! Tofino is beautiful. Last year, the area received the United Nations Biosphere designation (which basically means its a very special place in the world). There are amazing trails through old growth forests, easy access islands, the people are wonderful! (probably because they live in paradise!) Don't hesitate - you will have some life long memories when you return home.
