The Gruezis are heading to Canada

🇨🇦

Well, just for the weekend.

Were going to Montreal for a night and then to Hatley in the Eastern Townships. We will be staying at the Inn made famous by Louise Penny in her book The Murder Stone. Its a sweet spot on a lake and there is a pool and fishing. We hadnt planned to get away, but my work is calm so we are seizing the day.

I just got back from a few hours in the emergency room with my dear old Dad who fell and had a nasty gash on his head and an enormous hematoma on his wrist and hand. Looked like our trip was going to be off...

Miraculously, Dad had no fractures and they put some staples on his head and we took him back to his AL and tucked him in. Hes very annoyed about the whole inconvenience but I think we all got off easy.

So, Canada we will see you soon!

I'm so glad your dad is okay. At his stage, it's very lucky he "got off easy".

Manoir Hovey on Lake Massawippi? Lucky you!!!

The book is called A Rule Against Murder here, no matter what it's called, how fun to explore the inn through Gamache's eyes!

Enjoy your weekend!

Glad your Dad is ok. It must have been a scare for all of you. Your trip would be more perfect if you had her newest book to read but I think it's still a couple of weeks before it's published.

I am glad your father's fall wasn't more serious.

Have a great time in QC.
This is a good summary of Penny-related things to do in the Manoir Hovey area. I think you'd enjoy seeing the abbey if you haven't been before.

I thought for a minute you had given up on the USA. I understand the trauma of having an elderly parent fall. My father at 97 fell off his bike and looked like a 6 year old with skinned knees and elbow. Have a great time.

So glad to hear your dad is OK but sad that you're not going to make it to Toronto on this trip! When I read your headline, I was already planning a Toronto GTG!
Have a wonderful time!

Oh, well, hopefully you’ll get followed over here. It’s not a very active board.

Echoing gtg, next time come to TO! Promise we won’t even talk about IQ45 unless you want to.

yes I DEFINITELY need to get to Toronto! I will put that in my travel queue for sure.

Found you! Happy to hear you could get away for some nice R&R. Hope it was restful and fun. But sorry to hear about your dads fall. Obviously that could have been much worse.
