I usually fly Westjet or AC, but the fares are really high these days! I want to get a cheap fare from Toronto to Vancouver for a couple of weeks in the fall, and I've noticed really cheap fares with Sunwing. Anyone have any experience with them? Thanks.

We flew to Turks & Caicos with Sunwing and generally found it to be okay though there is less seating room for passengers. I'm 5'6'' and my knees were almost on the back of the seat in front of me for most of the flight. It could be I also had the misfortune of sitting behind someone who liked to recline for the entire flight (already sitting in an exit row!)

If the sale price more than makes up for being cramped for 5 hours (or you're 5'4" or less) than I'd say go right ahead. Not to discourage you too much, but thought you wanted an honest answer.

Here are some reviews I found....

Thanks. I had a feeling it would be like that!

We may still book it. For the 2 of us, it's cheaper than 1 ticket on Westjet or AC. I could use points on AC, but want to save them for a trip somewhere more exotic

Sunwing's owner is nice to his family's tiny little dog, if that's any indication of airline srvice quality.

He and I have had a long conversation about airlines, when walking our dogs, but I've never been on one of his planes.

Well, even though I'm more of a cat person, being nice to tiny little dogs is important in my books!

We flew with Sunwing from Toronto to Newfoundland last year. Our only disappointment was that the flight times changed and we lost most of a day. They did let us know in advance, but would have preferred a full day in St. John's. Guess that can happen with any airline, but with Sunwing, the cheapest deals are for flying at inconvenient times.

Please do report back; their rates are really good and we have friends in Toronto that would love to come and visit us in Victoria if they can get affordable flights. But if too many things go wrong, it may not be worth it.

I'm reporting back, and I have to say that I was really pleased with Sunwing. Our flight to Vancouver was changed somewhat - I guess because it was the end of the season, they combined a flight to Victoria with the flight to Vancouver, so we landed first in Victoria, then back over to Vancouver. (The flight was full.) I was surprised to see that they served a hot b/fast on the flight down and a hot dinner, with a glass of wine, on the way back. For $320 each return (including taxes), I sure wasn't expecting that.

We got to check-in early to request aisle seats. Even though I'm only 5'1", I like my aisle seat! So does my husband, so we usually try to get aisle seats across from one another. Our flight to BC left around 6:30 AM, but that meant we got there early in the day. Coming back, it didn't leave until 6:30 PM, so that was also handy - we were driving in to the airport from Chilliwack so were glad we didn't have to leave too early in the day. However that did mean we got to Toronto around 2 AM - luckily it was Saturday morning so I had the weekend to recover.

I would definitely fly with Sunwing again, especially with the deal we got.
