Sidetrip suggestions from Toronto in July?
We're staying in Toronto for 5 days this July (first timers). Any recommended side trips for us and our 14 year old son? (We'll be hitting Niagara Falls on our way back home.) We like most anything that's interesting, scenic, different, relaxing, or active. Thanks.

Depending on your son's interests ...

The Canadian warplane museum at the Hamilton airport is a great place. A half day to and from Toronto is enough time.

And if he likes animals, African Lion Safari, west of Toronto near Cambridge, is a great place. There's a waterpark, so bring a bathing suit. It's worth a whole day, to and from Toronto. we were there when my son was six, and we'll go back this summer when he's eight, but it is good for teenagers, too.

Paramount Canada's Wonderland has its fans and its foes. I think it's a waste if this in your only time to see toronto, but I spent about four summers there every weekend when my big kids were teenagers.

Other than that, there's lots to do inside Toronto that makes sidetrips unnecessary.

BAK

Thanks, Brian, for your suggestions. The War Plane Museum sounds like a interesting possibility for my husband & son. I've read about Canada's Wonderland; but I'm not sure about that one yet. I'm not sold on having to make side trips during our stay, but would like to keep some options open... thanks again
