I work in a hospital. We are SARS-free. Although it was difficult for a time, we are back to normal, only we are careful about good hygiene. I have to say that this is probably the best time to travel to Toronto. There are amazing deals in hotels and entertainment and the spring/summer is wonderful in our city. I am proud to be a Torontonian and to work in a hospital. Not one staff member has contracted the disease. Come and visit!!!!

BTW - WHO has lifted ALL advisories re: Toronto. They are no longer even recommending exit screening. Apparently though thermal imaging devices will be installed at the airport - probably now more to monitor incoming passengers. No new cases (even in hospitals) in over 20 days.

The SARS warning is finished - I live in Toronto and only saw one person with a mask - it really was confined to a few hospitals in the east side of the city - which is not a tourist area. Toronto's a great city - but so is Quebec City and Montreal.

No offense duke6979, when I first started posting on this board, I read something you wrote about SARS and I agreed with you (at the time)... but you just keeping going from post to post and you just won't listen to anyone who is trying to (reasonably) rationalize with you. I have already apologized to JMM (on another thread) for being so hasty and thinking he/she was the one who was being unreasonable ... after reading all these posts, I now have quite another opinion. Duke, we get it. You are hysterically afraid of SARS. Ok, you are entitled to that!! But please ... enough already. Not everyone wants to hear about it.
I am very sorry if I offended you-and before you jump to conclusions and call me a "healthy person who doesn't have to worry", this is false. My immune system is poor. I would probably die from SARS if I ever caught it... but there are SO MANY viruses etc. going around we don't even know about. Sure, I take percautions. I wash my hands and carry wet wipes with me etc... but I am not about to hide away. What kind of life would that be?!!

I just spend the weekend in Toronto, stayed at the Sheraton City Centre and flew back to Minneapolis last night. SARS is SO last month...nobody is getting sick, it's over, no masks to be seen anywhere, it was totally blown out of proportion in the media. TORONTO ROCKS...best city in the world!

Yes, we did actually. Our FA turned us on to Byzantium and we had a wonderful meal! We spent most of Sunday on Queen St shopping and up Spadina to the Kensington Market. Monday we headed over to Church street and just did a quick walk-through, but it was nice to see a vibrant community there! Thanks for the tips, we just loved T.O! We even were upgraded to a suite at the Sheraton, so we have nothing but LOVE LOVE LOVE for Toronto!
