Sad news about a Canadian Fodorite
There was a post on the Lounge today by Nikki......
"I received a note today from Anselm Adorne, a longtime poster on this message board, that his wife Susan, known on Fodors as Margriet van der Banck, passed away on June 7th"
Ernie - please accept our condolences for your loss - you and Susan had so many wonderful trips and, via your trip reports, we feel as though we were traveling along with the two of you.
Her obituary reads in part (edited for privacy reasons):
"Susan will be remembered for her passionate interest in cooking, spinning, dyeing, knitting, children’s literature, and France. She loved to play with words and derived great pleasure from her work as an editor. . But above all, she was the perfect travelling companion, a loving wife, and a wonderful mother.
Susan, who was never at a loss for an appropriate quote, would say that she is 'in the way to study a long silence.'
Thinking of you and your family..............

I am truly sorry to hear the news of your wife's passing. I know the past few months have been challenging. I trust you will find strength in the memories you and Margriet have created together. Those of us who post at Fodor's certainly support you at this sad time.
With fond regards

Goodness me, I've only just seen this post, and I too am very saddened by this news. Thank you Elizabeth for posting.
My deepest sympathies to you Ernie on this terribly sad occasion. I hope it will be of comfort to you to know that I and the rest of your friends on this board share in your loss and grief. I will PM you.
In sympathy,
Mathieu.
