Restaurants near Nanaimo/Parksville on Vancouver Island

Does anyone have any suggestions on good restaurants in the Nanaimo/Parksville area of Vancouver Island? Are there any good seafood markets in this area?

A new floating dock has opened in Nanaimo selling fresh fish direct from the fishing boats. Go down to the boat basin off Front Street.

Are there any decent sized super markets in this area? I'll be staying at the Pacific Shores Nature Center and will need to find food and some decent restaurants in the area. Any help would be appreciated!

There are a few larger supermarkets - Quality Foods, Thrifty's & Overwaitea, in the Parksville area - so food shopping shouldn't be a problem. I haven't really taken the time to try out the restaurants in Parksville, but there are quite a few - take a chance.

While we had a wonderful stay on Vancouver Island, I can't say I had many enjoyable meals. We ate recommended restaurants, but must say that we were quite disappointed with most meals, particularly with the prices we paid. We ate one evening at Ting Na Mara where I was supposed to be served garlic mashed potatos. Instead I received an unseasoned white potato plopped on my plate. If you're heading over to the island for vacation, plan on doing a lot of your own cooking and save your money. Other than the meals, we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend the island for a vacation.
