Mountains -- the best way to spend a weekend, lively or lazy, with or without kids of any size.
Mountains, just to look at. Back when I lived there, I could see them from my front porch and from my office window. (Office wondow overlooked cattle, too, if they escaped from the fields next door.)
Beef
Zoo -- we had two kids back then.
Small town rodeos.

I never lived in Calgary, but in Canmore for 10+ years, but Calgary is one of my most favourite cities. What I love most about Calgary is the friendliness of everyone and it's laid back attitude.
Other things to love about Calgary:
Beef (totally agree with BAK)
Bernard Callebaut Chocolates
Rubiyat (awesome store)
Inglewood area
View of the Rockies
Millarville Farmers Market
The Foothills - love the rolling hills
