Quebec at night for boys 17&19
We are going to spend ten days in Quebec (5 in Quebec City and 5 in Montreal) in early July, our 2 sons (17 & 19) are interested in going dancing, meeting other young people. We are staying at Auberge St-Antoine in Quebec, and Hotel Vogue in Montreal.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I am no expert on that angle of Quebec, but I do have one question: How is their French? Reasonably fluent? None at all? If none, there might be a problem of language. But youngsters seem to have a way around those barriers whereas grownups don't.
Then we saw several teen hangouts. And my general impression was that Quebec City is safe as current cities go. But more experienced posters will have to fill you in.
In Montreal, various clubs (Sessions, Extreme's) on Crescent St. would probably be best for 17 & 19 year olds to go dancing. Another popular club for people in that age group is The Dome located on Ste. Catherine St. Even though clubs & bars here are 18+, the younger ones still get in.

In Montreal:
- Crescent Street (Sir Winston Churchill Pub, Thursday's - downstairs, Winston & Gavino's, Extreme, etc.)
- Ste-Catherine Street near Peel (Sherlock's)
- Ste-Catherine Street near St-Laurent (Metropolis - check out on Sat. night)

In Quebec City:
- best clubs are on Grande Allee Avenue (Dagobaird, etc.)

Voila.
Have a good time.
Can't help on Quebec City, but further to the above; your hotel is very close to Crescent Street,so this one is easy. Use a map, and locate the lower end of St. Denis street for more young people having a good time in the summer. Also look at the St. Laurent Blvd area a few blocks north of Sherbrooke Street. The frechfolk in Montreal will be very welcoming of US visitors who speak French with a California accent. They'll have a good time.

Five days in Quebec City is, in my estimation, about three days too long, incidentally. There's a lot to be said for spending those three extra days in Ottawa instead.

BAK

BAK
We recently spent one week in Quebec City and loved it. We found plenty to do during that week with our two kids, ages 11 and 14. Whale watching is fun, if you have a car to drive to one of the takeoff points. You can take a boat from Quebec City, but it is a long boat ride and quite expensive.

We noticed a lively nightspot for teenagers, when we passed by it a couple of times. I think it is called "Monkey", and is off Grand Allee (spelling may be wrong), where there are a lot of restaurants, just past where Rue St.Louis turns into Grand Allee, in old Quebec. We didn't go there, since it was clearly a place for teens, but it looked quite popular. The kids looked to be college age.
