President's Day Weekend in Montreal
I have a couple of questions about a trip I will be taking to Montreal on President's Day weekend. I am going with three other friends, we are all seniors in college, in our last semester and looking forward to the trip. 1. We want to stay in the downtown area. We are looking for a good hotel to stay at that is affordable, any suggestions would be great. 2. We will want to go out a couple nights when we are there. Looking for any suggestions for nightclubs or bars in the city. 3. Finally, we were wondering if anyone had any thoughts about President's Day weekend. We have heard that there are a good amount of tourists in the area for the weekend. I went to Toronto over the weekend last year and it was a good time. We will be getting up there Saturday afternoon and were wondering if we should stay a third night (Monday night into Tuesday). Just wondering if Monday night would still be a good night to go out. ANY suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,
My husband and I are going to Quebec city and Montreal on the same week-end. Do you know that it is the finale of Carnival in Quebec City? It's awesome! Quebec city is only 2 1/2 hours from Montreal, you might want to drive up for the parade and party on Saturday night! Please check the following link, which the web address for the carnival:
http://www.carnaval.qc.ca/webzine/ang/index.asp

As for night life in Montreal, you can't go wrong if you go to rue Saint Denis or Sainte Catherine, it's full of great restaurants, bars and night clubs! amusez-vous bien au Quebec!
My wife and i will be going up that same weekend (weather permitting). This will be about our 15th trip to this fun city. Because of the great exchange rate, and off season, nearly any hotel will be affordable. I would recommend the Holiday Inn on Sherbrooke, or the Delta for downtown. Rooms will be about $100 a night US. For less expensive, there are many small hotels on Sherbrooke east - the Argoat, Residence du Voyaguer, etc. All under $80 a night US. There are many dance clubs, bars, cafes, etc. Most of them are centered on St. Denis above St. Catherine, on St. Laurent above St. Catherine, and on Crescent. St. Laurent is more dance clubs, especially by Prince Arthur, St. Denis is more small clubs and cafes, Crescent St. is smaller, but more English speaking, with some irish Pubs in the area.
Have fun!
