President's Cup

Anybody watching or attending The President's Cup? My son was there today & I watched some of it on TSN. He's going back tomorrow for the final.
Anne Cink: Are you still here on Fodors? Where did you go for dinner? Stewart was amazing today! You must be so proud! My son tried to get your son's autograph but was not successful...maybe tomorrow!

As a former Montreal and gold enthusiast I watched much of Saturday's and Sunday's round.

Watched Weir and Woods and must say I was pulling for Weir but the rest of the US team.

I go to the Doral tournament for 4 days every year. One year I saw Mike hole out the 2nd shot on a par 4 from 155 yards. i was right beside the hole. Hopefully this will get him going.

This year Doral was a WGC event and there were practice rounds instead of pro-Am. They permit cameras to the practice rounds. They are the best kept secret and just as interesting as the tournament.

Myer: How exciting about Doral! I did not know that. Perhaps we will get there next time. Getting tickets for Sawgrass in May/08!!
My son said it was so amazing to be there @ The Cup yesterday & on Saturday. I think he was most excited about being so close to Gary & Jack!! He said he did not want the day to end...& that was after 2 long days from 8:00AM until 6:00PM!

Hello WOW!!
We had a wonderful time in Montreal! What a beautiful city, especially after the weather made up its mind to turn to Autumn! Incredibly gorgeous! Your city has a lot to offer tourists. We were amazed by the underground city. We could take the hotel elevator right down to Sub 1 and Sub 2. We ate a lot of our breakfasts and lunches there. So fun, but it is hard to choose from so many cafes. The shopping on St Catherines was great. Your stores have a more "European" flair than the department stores in the US. I loved looking at the more modern looking clothes and actually bought a few things that I thought were pretty "out there".
We had our parents' dinner at The Keg Steakhouse on Wednesday night. We attended the Opening Ceremonies that afternoon and it was late when everyone returned to the hotel. The traffic in Montreal was a mess. It regularly took us over an hour to ride the bus to and from the golf course. One night it took two hours +. I was really glad that we made our plans at the restaurant right next to the hotel. Anyway, the Keg staff was wonderful. The food was excellent and the prices were fair. On our walks around town, I saw some menus that made me look twice at the prices. Yikes!!. We ate at Vargas another night and went to Guido and Angelina's two nights. All were very good. Saturday night, we were all very tired and very late getting back into town. We wanted a quick dinner, so we took a taxi to the Bar B Barn for ribs and chicken. (I can hear you laughing)! It may have been the best dinner we had while we were there - we're just the bar-b-que type of people. Dinner that night was realllly quick - and that's a good thing!
Everything about the Cup was wonderful. What a beautiful venue! The hospitality at the course was great. We had a Family tent where we could watch the matches on tv. Thank goodness, we sure couldn't see anything out there on the course, but we are used to that. Most of the parents sat in the family room and watched it on tv together. The food in the tent was excellent! That is another reason we didn't plan real big dinners at night. We ate all day long at the golf course - they put out a big breakfast, then lunch, then snacks mid afternoon. Hard to resist.
It was so nice that Mike Weir won his match on Sunday. Good stuff. We were so proud when Stewart won his match and, as a result, got the winning point for the US Team. We were out on the course at that time and we got to go inside the ropes and celebrate with them. All in all, it was an incredible experience. We will be touting the benefits of traveling to Quebec and your fair city. Just wish that Looney would behave - just kidding, good for you!

Just saw your note about Sawgrass. We will be there - we live close by at The Villages, Florida.

I'm so glad you had a grand time, your son's win making it extra special. A lot of members of our golf club (summerlea) volunteered at the Cup and loved it.

thanks for the fab trip report.

From what we saw on TV, Montreal looked so appealing! I would expect it to get a big tourist boost from those eye-popping shots of the fall colors. A beautiful venue.

Congratulations to the US team (and their families)!

Hello, Anne Cink & all of The Cinks! Thanks so much for your Cup report! Congrats to your US team & to your son, Stewart. You must be so proud of Stewart. It was so exciting to watch! My son & his friends were absolutely thrilled to be there. It really was an amazing time for everybody. They went to Gibby's on Friday night & again on Saturday night & the food was wonderful. Maybe you will get a chance to go there the next time you are in Montreal. So happy to hear that you found a great place for your parents' dinner. The Keg was perfect.
See you @ Sawgrass!! I will look for "out there" outfits & see if I can spot you!!!

Hi Wow!
When you get to Sawgrass, you know where to look for us - following Stewart's group. Look for a tall Mr. Cink (like Stewart) and a short Mrs. Cink (not like Stewart). Hope to see you there.

See you @ Sawgrass!
