The Columbia Icefields and the Glacierview Inn are 103 km south of the town of Jasper. Patricia Lake Bungalows are only a couple of km from town. If you want to overnight somewhere on the Icefields Parkway, this is one of four choices (not counting the bungalows on the parkway that are within 10 km of Jasper), and the only one at the Icefields.

krp329, thank you for your info. We'll skip the Glacierview Inn.
LindainOhio, I meant the Fairmont at Lake Louise. I hope to get a better deal closer to our dates of travel. As far as trying out hiking for the first time, I'm leaving that open and see what the weather forecast.

I really enjoyed this hike in Maligne Canyon- http://hikejasper.com/Hiking-Maligne...in-Jasper.html
My DW dropped me off at the top and then parked at the bottom and hiked up to meet me. Enjoy your trip.
