Pan Pacific without a view

The Pan has told me that at the room rate I will be paying, they cannot guarantee a room on the harbour side as standard rooms face the city. Is it still worth staying at this hotel given most hotels will not guarantee a room with a view? Does it have other features other than the view that make it special?

It is definitely a nice hotel and commonly regarded as one of the best in Vancouver. It a big place and is in a pretty busy area since the cruiseships dock there and it also contains a convention centre but there's nothing wrong with that and it gets quiet at night. The restaurants in the hotel also face the water so even if you don't get a room with a view then it is still nice, and you just have to walk out the door to get a view anyway.

The only hotel that I can think of that might be a bit nicer doesn't have a view either (more luxurious in terms of rooms, furnishings, etc) is the Wedgewood and maybe Le Soleil but I think you can't go wrong with the Pan Pacific.

You didn't say what your rate is- but I would hate to be on the water and not see it.

We stayed in the Marriott Renaisance with a balcony and a short cab ride to that area-or a 10 minute walk-without luggage- to the same area.

If it's rainy or you want to be in your room-much better with something to look at.

The special rate is $160.00 Cdn. at the Pan. Couldn't pass it up for first week of June. It's booked.

That's a very good rate and you never know - when you check in if you smile nicely you just might get that water view.

Hania - Was that an openly published rate or something you obtained from a private source? I was hoping to stay there in May, but just can't afford the $384/night I was quoted. Thanks!

AH,this will probably irritate you but it is the Federal Government rate with ID. It is probably the same as the corporate rate. It is the same government rate at the Delta, Sutton, Marriot etc. as the Pan. I guess they all have the same rate in order to stay competitive with the business travellers. That is why no room with a view.
