Olympic Hotel Availability

I thought I would put together a list of the sites claiming to have room availability, for at least a portion, of the Games. For the most part, these are located in downtown Vancouver.

https://www5.hellobc.com/reservation...ommodation.pdf
This is the official list as it’s linked directly from Vancouver2010.com. It’s the best summary of availability throughout the area.

http://www.hellobc.com/en-CA/Accommo...shColumbia.htm
Same as above with search feature.

https://www.cosport.net/v2010/NeedTo...asp?from=rooms
Go to “Accommodations Only” for a page showing the Hotel Vancouver and Sheraton Wall Centre at $725+ a night.

http://www.14sb.com/Cheap_Olympics_Hotel_Rooms.html
This broker has a wide variety from a Hampton Inn in Langley at $299 to the Hotel Vancouver at $2250 (after tax). The good news is that they just started offering a $100 discount!

http://www.victorianhotel.ca/
An older downtown hotel showing rooms at $500.

http://www.sunsetinn.com/2010
A downtown “business hotel” showing some availability at $350+.

www.rivieraonrobson.com/family-suites.htm
Rooms available at $600+.

www.roadtrips.com/winter-games-hotels.aspx
Downtown hotels for $500=, the even claim to have rooms at the Four Seasons Whistler at $1000.

I have not dealt with any of these sites and always “let the buyer beware”.

Thanks for posting this. I hope people who need to find a place will get what they need.

For people who are still looking, be wary of offers like the one in Langley. With the forecast traffic, it would take forever to get anywhere from there.

Wow, you must have been lucky enough to take advantage of some kind of glitch. Lol, I wonder if it was supposed to be $700! This happens sometimes with airfares, too. I've been keeping track of so many people's sagas (and then have my own) of finding a hotel they can afford, and yes everyone repeatedly checked Priceline and Hotwire, and there was nothing even remotely like that.

pandasdance you mentioned on the other thread that it was the day after the Olympics. If it is actually during the Olympics I would certainly double check your reservation.

I don't know if anybody has seen this yet, but if you don't mind staying with locals, you might want to look into Home For The Games = http://www.homeforthegames.com/

It's basically a non-profit service organized by a local Vancouver author who decided to create a network where locals offer their extra bedrooms, extra suites, etc. to visitors for fair prices ($100, $200 a night, etc.) and part of the proceeds go toward local charities.
