Niagara Falls restaurants?

Returning to Niagara Falls after almost 10 years and would appreciate some restaurant information.

We ate at the most wonderful local Italian restaurant... and I can't remember the name. Seems like it was on a main road... close to touristy area. I'm remembering something about the decor being unusual... or maybe it was that we were told it was casual... but it felt like we were under-dressed??? Any way, I made a mental note that I would return there one day... seems mental wasn't a good choice!
: )

Also any other restaurant suggestions would be welcomed. We are trying to keep our food budget moderate... but wouldn't want to miss something really special.

We will have a good falls view from our room... so I don't want to pay big bucks for a meal, just for the same view... when are already putting those bucks in our room. But we always want to enjoy a great meal!

Thanks for your help!

At the top of Clifton Hill theres a Mama Mias or something like that... The Keg steakhouse at the top of Embassy Suites is probably the best moderate priced with the view... theres also a Wolfgang Puck Casual across from the Casino and every chain you can imagine....

Did it have statues or something like that? Seems like I'm remembering statues.

This is a link to my trip report of our Niagara trip. It has a few comments about restaurants in the area. Those in the immediate vicinity of the falls were either too expensive or low quality. It's been all this while and I still remember the meals we had at the two restaurants I mentioned out of the area of the falls. Enjoy, I hadn't been to the falls in a long time and I really enjoyed doing all the tourist things this time around.

I second the Keg in the Embassy Suites. If you get a chance, drive the Niagara Parkway north to Niagara-on-the-Lake. It is a charming town with some good shopping, restaurants and wineries. Some wineries have a restaurant too. We ate at the Charles Inn. Wonderful.

Carpaccio on Lundy's Lane has good Italian food and isn't far from the tourist area. Lundy's Lane is a main road.

I third the Keg in the Embassy. We always go and always ask for a window view even through we have a Fallsview room. Just can't get enough of those Falls, especially with a glass of wine!

Your description sounds very much like Casa D'Oro on Victoria Ave., a block from the top of Clifton Hill. www.thecasadoro.com

Another very popular local Italian place is the Capri, just a couple of blocks past the Casa D'Oro.

Also note, Wolfgang Puck's Cafe closed a year ago.

I actually tried a great restaurant a couple of weeks ago - on Lundy's Lane but not something I've noticed before - but great food, great atmosphere, great staff...highly recommend.
Called Niagara's Best Brewery and Pub.

A good Italian restaurant is Antica Pizzeria at 5785 Victoria Avenue, right near Clifton Hill. Pizza made in brick oven right in dining room is delicious. Cozy setting, reasonable prices. Family dining.
