Hi Anselm,

I too am sorry to hear of your father's injury, and especially that we will not enjoy the pleasure of your company at the GTG this year. But your priorities are in the right place and I hope that he recovers quickly and maintains his spirit. I was lucky to enjoy both my parents for as long as I could though both lived only until their early 70s.
It was wonderful meeting you last year and to have continued corresponding since.

I have an idea and I'll PM you.

Cheers,

M

Anselm, I'm sorry you won't be there, because I was so looking forward to meeting the person who wrote those marvellous reports on northern France. However, if accidents happened at convenient times they would be accidents. But all is not lost-- if you inherit your father's genes, maybe you'll be able to attend the GTG in 2028!

I'm new to using Fodor's 'travel talk', so could some tell me what GTG is?? Thanks

goddesstogo Jul 17th, 2008 02:34 PM

It's Get ToGether, Bgale, and I hope you can come to it.

(Sometimes it's me, GoddessToGo! :"> )

Anselm

I would like to add my best wishes to your father - and I, too, am sorry if we won't have the chance to meet on the 9th. I know you will make it if you possibly can.

Bgale Jul 18th, 2008 10:54 AM

goddesstogo, thanks for the explanation. Sounds like a great time. The next best thing to actually traveling is to share travel tales with others who have the "bug." Enjoy everyone!

AnselmAdorne Jul 20th, 2008 04:43 AM

Thanks to all for your best wishes for my dad. Thanks, too, to moolyn and Mathieu for the e-mails and suggestions!

I couldn't quite get over how disappointed I was in my decision not to attend the GTG, so after several days of soul-searching and discussion, it will be three trips to Toronto in August, including the GTG on the 9th.

Now I'm smiling and looking forward to seeing everyone!!

WOO-HOO!! AA that is really great news.
YOU are definately a confirmed Fodorite!!

Great, just great!

Anselm, I was away from e-mail and internet for a few days (okay admit I took a quick peak at the library) so came into today wanting to ask you how I'd get the the book on Normandy to you - but see you're now going to be at the GTG.

Hi Moolyn, Kodi et al - just saw this new post - my husband Richard and I will be there - will email Moolyn.

Re: >Can I get an updated head count?<

As reported earlier and thus this is an update, not a "new" report, Jana and I are a yes.
