The pics are great fun! Thanks again to the "committee" for organizing a great evening and to Marilyn and Richard for inviting us back to their place

Enjoyed the pictures! Glad you all had such a great turn out!

moolyn: They say the camera does not lie but I think it was truth-impaired that evening. True, I'm entering my golden years but do I really look that dissipated????

Oh well, everyone can't be photogenic. The others look great though -- lively, funny, energetic.
And thanks for the organizing and the posting!

If anyone wants to see the REAL me, however: Here I am in more flattering lighting (ie heavy shadow):

I'm new to this list -- can anyone tell me what a GTG is?

Re>I'm new to this list -- can anyone tell me what a GTG is?<

Happy to.

GTG is Get ToGether

In this case, a group of Toronto-based Fodor's contributers, enhanced by other Canadian contributors from Newfoundland, Manitoba, other parts of Ontario, etc.

ted: Cameras may not lie but the very features that make DSLRs excellent for scenery tend to magnify every nook and cranny on people’s faces. We did our best to eliminate all the less than flattering photos but I noticed some typos in names and a couple of people with closed eyes after we posted. Sorry about that. As I wrote before, we are all much more attractive in person!

BAK is correct but GTG could also mean Great Travellers Gathering as indeed it was.

No problem; it's probably good for my humility to see photos of myself.

It means God!Tedgale'sGorgeous!

TG, at the next GTG you have to show up in a bathing suit!

I must add my thanks to the organizers of a very enjoyable evening. This is ridiculously belated, but I didn't get back to NL (& my computer) until the 22nd, and spent last week getting ready for the upcoming school year.
It must be daunting to plan for people one has not met in person, but the plans worked perfectly, and moolyn's open-house afterwards made a perfect end to the evening.
I suppose my fading vanity will recover from the close-up at the beginning of moolyn's pictures...arrghh!

Our friend teacherCanada has started a thread about a 2009 Toronto GTG. I thought putting the link on this old thread would be a good way of alerting everyone who attended last year's event. Take a look here, and do post if you're up for a 2009 event:
