Hi all,

Thinking about a short trip to Canada this summer to escape the Texas heat I'm looking to spend a long weekend up north, 4-5 days max. Where would you suggest?

I'll be flying out of DFW, so Montreal and Vancouver are easy choices, but I'm open to other places as well!

I enjoy good food, entertainment and green space Not big on hiking, but I'm happy to hang out in a park/by a lake!

Let me know what you recommend!

Plenty of pretty in the Seattle/Vancouver area if you are looking for the great outdoors and water...

Montreal and Quebec City are a taste of Europe with walking, shopping and an old world feel...

your choice...

Don't forget Toronto for a big city option, great food, diversity, and festivals all summer...

I would opt for the West Coast - Vancouver and Victoria. Montreal gets hot and humid in the summer so I think you would enjoy the Pacific Northwest. By the way Vancouver's Stanley park was just voted as the World's best park so that is a highlight in itself!! My daughter lives in Corpus Christi so she loves to come back home for a visit in summer.

I cannot stress Vancouver enough...

Vancouver is the rare town where <b>normal people</b> are roaming the streets all night long, and where you will be most safe.

Additionally, it stays light out so much later, in the northern summers, than is the case during summer in Texas, that you'll have lots of extra sightseeing time too.

Vancouver promises temperature relief... and heck, B.C. is 35% bigger than Texas as well, if you're in need of space (B.C. has MUCH more empty space too, for if you get too far up there, all there is are trees, you, and the road you're on)

Vancouver is compact, mostly bug-free (as far as 'pests' go)... and boasts lots of different cultures all in a compact and walkable central area.

It's not rare in Canada--this is generally the case with all Canadian cities.

vancouver may be a good choice for you. not normally overly hot and meets a lot of your needs. another place that i think would be good for r a 4-5 day jaunt, fly into calgary and go to banff. there is some fabulous scenery to see without having to hike and isn't usually too hot.

while not too hot, because it is situated distant from the open pacific ocean , there is good salt water swimming @ a variety of beaches: english bay, stanley park , kitsilano/jehrico and clothing optional wreck beack out below UBC

Vancouver all the way. Summer the best time to see the city, parks, beaches and nightlife. Never had a bad time there and vacation things to do than time to do it.
