Live Jazz or other music other than during Jazz Fest

My husband and I are going to Montreal for 3 nights in early August. I'm not finding too much online on the live music scene other than during the fest. Where should we go to hear live music after dinner? We're staying in Old Montreal. I have 2 dinner reservations so far. Les 400 Coups and Garde Manger. Left one night open to see what neighborhood we're in so we just go with the flow. We're not big nightclub people, just want to find a place to hang out after dinner!

If you like jazz and good food try Modavie. You can also go to uptairs jazz bar or try looking at the list of shows at l'astral and house of jazz. There is so much to see and do in Montreal!! You can take the subway and visit the downtown area and underground city. You could also see the Olympic parc or take part in the activites at the old port. Eating in old Montreal is pricey. You could go to little it lay or the downtown area to eat also. The places you have mentioned are very good. There is a fireworks competition in the summer that is very nice to see also.

Thanks for your ideas Maria! I've read about the Plateau area a little so we will be heading there as well. I did check on Modavie and you can't just go there for the music. You have to eat dinner there.

Yes it is a nice place to eat good food and enjoy jazz. House of jazz, upstairs, and Nyks are spot syou could listen to music and a drink. You could look them up. L'astral and le gesu have nice shows, you could check the schedule if you feel like seeing a show. Le plateau, prince Arthur and crescent st. Seem to be the place to enjoy Montreal in the summer nights. Imlive here and never get tiered of it

There is a small basement jazz club on St Denis near rue Rachael called Deise Onze that has live jazz every night. There is lots of nightlife on on St. Denis, St. Laurent and Rue Mt Royal. Also, check out the 'Hour' website for Montreal entertainment:

Thanks for the additional replies. This is great! I'm really looking forward to our stay. I think I need to cance at least one dinner reservation so we can just explore and stay where we wind up!
