Is the crossing into Canada as bad as they say?

I am interested in visiting Toronto (driving up from Buffalo) but was told that the lines coming and going to and from Canada have reached the point that is nearly impossible to cross the border without waiting at least 6 hours in bumper to bumper traffic. I would like to visit Canada but I hate lines. Is this true?

I drove to Buffalo for the day about 6 weeks ago. We had no problem either coming or going; having said that, there can be traffic that can keep you waiting for a while. But whoever told you it would take 6 hours was - um -misinformed.

My sister and her family just drove through Watertown NY on their way to visit me in Boston (from Toronto). They, too, had heard about terrible waits. When they got to immigartion, there was another car just pulling away...then they were through! So much for the crowds!
