In Montreal Next Week...
My boyfriend and I will be in Montreal next week and I have a couple of questions. We will be staying at the Hotel Nelligan from Thursday-Sunday.
1) Any reasonably priced restaurant recommendations near the hotel? We are arriving at around 930pm on Thursday evening.
2) Any "must-see" attractions or museums?
3) Any other advice would be greatly appreciated..
Thanks!

Scan back thru the Montreal posts for a wealth of info. The Nelligan is in Old Montreal, which is very quaint and scenic. Inexpensive restaurants are not very common in this part of town. Pavorotti is a small, quiet Italian place that is mid priced and quite good. After a day or two, you will want to explore other parts of the city. Don't miss the St. Denis/plateau area, with it's wealth of restaurants (many of them byob), cafes, shops, etc etc.
As for 'must see' attractions, Notre Dame is one, the Biodome/Olympic Park/Botanical Gardens area may be another. The Museum of Fine Arts is a world class art museum.
Montreal is not really a museum/historical sites type city. It's charm is in it's cafes, restaurants, interesting ethnic neighborhoods, shopping and beautiful parks and bicycling paths.

We enjoyed taking a boat charter to see Montreal from the water. There are many located at the boardwalks. We also had a great chuckle renting one of the quad-bikes (there were four adults or four immature adults). They also have double bikes you ride side by side. Great way to work off a meal!
Off of St. Denis St. you will find the Greek community and wonderful restaurants at a very reasonable price (byob as well but no charge for corking).

- riding bikes along Lachine canal.
- hiking up Mt. Royal
- general aimless wandering around St. Denis, on Mt. Royal street, Ste Catherine
