how combine Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, P.E.I
In August we would like to visit the Avalon Penisula of Newfoundland, southern Nova Scotia (already enjoyed Cape Breton area), and P.E.I. We are flying from Kansas City. I can't figure out a good way to do this. Time and money are both important, but conserving time is the most important. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

My sugestion would be to fly between Halifax and St. John's. This will save a lot of time compared to the ferry without breaking the bank. Fly to Halifax do the southern NS loop then visit PEI and return to Halifax. Fly to St. John's, enjoy, fly home. I hope you have a reasonable amount of time for this, there is no point rushing around.
I just costed Toronto-Halifax, Halifax-St.John's and then St. John's-Toronto and it came in at $460 Cdn picking random August dates. I was unable to readily do it from KC.

There are two ways to access PEI from NS, if driving. If driving from Halifax, the closest is taking the ferry, which in the summer has about 6-8 departures each day. From halifax the drive to the ferry is about 3 hours, perhaps a little less. The ferry crossding takes about 75 minutes. You can then drive across PEI and exit via the bridge on the western side of the island. You only pay once since both the ferry and the bridge require payment only upon departure. In my opinion, I would allow 21 days for this trip so as not to hurry, especially if you intend to cover a large part of NFLD, such as Gros Morne Nat'l Park and St. John's area. Have fun.
