Hotels in Vancouver

My family and I are staying for 4 nights in Vancouver this summer - we are looking at the Waterfront, Pan Pacific or Hotel Vancouver, but would consider other recommendations. Location, view, quality/size of room and service are all important to us - any recommendations or comments ?

Mark

Well, the Pan Pacific is one of the top hotels in the world, let alone Vancouver. You've chosen all the top hotels (the Metropolitan & The Sutton Place are other top hotels in town).

but for location/view? The Pan Pacific or the Waterfront.

I think my stay at the Pan Pacific was one of the most disappointing hotel stays ever, in no small part because its reputation is so exalted. The views *are* spectacular, but everything else was definitely only average. The rooms are on the small side and noisy (noise from other rooms can be *clearly* heard in your room). Service was merely ok, and for those prices, it should be outstanding. I really don't understand why it's always rated so highly...I've stayed at all the top hotels in Vancouver and definitely would not go back to the Pan Pacific.
I would recommend the Waterfront over the Pan Pacific if you want to have a water view.

For my money, the nicest hotel, with the best service and best location, is the Sutton Place, followed by the Four Seasons. I also like the boutique hotels like the Wedgewood, the Met and the Sheraton Suites Le Soleil, but it sounds like you're looking for a big hotel. With a family, another good option is the Pacific Palisades, which has huge one bedroom suites, most with great views.

I vote (hands down) for the Waterfront. Request a corner room on one of the top floors for a spectacular view.
