If you plan to visit…..

July on track to be hottest month in P.E.I. history.

Link https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/princ...cord-1.6916133

It's been more than just hot on P.E.I. this month: It's been historically hot.

The current average temperature for the month of July counting through Sunday, including daytime highs and nighttime lows, has been 22 C.

That's 3.3 C above average according to Environment Canada, and a half-degree above the previous record set in July 1947.

tlc195, do you have any updates on the weather on PEI for August? We are leaving this Sunday for PEI. I've been checking weather reports. If they are accurate, (I know weather can change), looks like it will be cool most days. (In the 60's).

Karen,

I looked at , see below. But PEI weather changes often based on wind direction and where you are located. Take anything past 24 hours as a guess…lol. Enjoy your time on the island and do not eat too much lobster. It’s lobster season if you can cook where you are staying head down to any dock and buy the lobster from the lobstermen.

tlc195, Do you have a preference for New Glasgow Lobster Supper or Fishermen's Wharf Lobster Suppers?

We are leaving for PEI this Sunday, staying overnight in St. John, NB. We are spending two nights at the Johnson Shore Inn in Hermanville and then 4 nights at Barachois Inn in Rustico. So excited! And looking forward to some delicious seafood, especially lobster!

Thank you for the weather chart!

Karen,

Places we like to eat In the Cavendish/ North Rustico area.

Blue Mussel Cafe in North Rustico

Pedro’s in North Rustico

On the Dock in North Rustico

The Lost Anchor Cavendish

LaRoso Bistro Cavendish

New Glasgow Lobster Supper (if on PEI you got to go to a lobster supper, this is the place) in New Glasgow. We have been to New Glasgow at least 15 times, sometimes twice in 1 stay. Never had a bad meal. I understand Fisherman Wharf was sold over the winter with new owners. The have a large salad bar and you pick what you want. We did Fisherman about 10 years ago and like New Glasgow better.

PEI Island Preserve Company in New Glasgow

They make fantastic Preserves, Marmalades & Jellies. You can actually see them make it the various products. Do not miss the beautiful free “Gardens of Hope” adjacent to the store and restaurant to walk around. They have a restaurant OK food, good for breakfast.

Richards for fantastic lobster rolls in Cove Head and Victoria by the Sea and Cove head is in the National Park. Tell the toll takers you are going to Richards and they will let you pass without paying. If you do not go to Richards they will give you a ticket. You have to park in Richards parking lot.

If you go to Richards in Cove Head on the way visit Dunes Gallery they sell art, toys, and have free gardens outback. They also have a good restaurant.

Hope this helps, enjoy your time on the island.

If you have never been to the island and are trying to decide to visit please review the detailed trip report with amazing photos Karen Woo did on her trip to PEI, see link below. I think she really highlighted the beauty of the island in her photos and in her narrative.

Pretty Prince Edward Island and a Taste of New Brunswick

Thanks Karen for taking the time to post the details of your trip extremely helpful.

As this thread holds a lot of great information about PEI, I thought I would add a link to a bistro on the New Brunswick side of the Confederation Bridge. It is in Baie Vert, so well-placed for those who would like to have lunch before getting on the bridge to the island.

Bistro Le Chat Bleu

We have eaten there twice, most recently last Friday, on our way from Halifax to Stanley Bridge. Great service, an interesting menu, and an eclectic interior. Reservations recommended.

Under the Spire Announces 2024 Artist Lineup

See link below for the artist line up. We have attended several concerts over the years and really enjoyed them. The facility is near Kensington.

After a record-breaking season in 2023 and over a quarter of a century presenting the very best of traditional, pop, classical, jazz, country, and world music in Historic St. Mary’s, Under the Spire (UTS) is excited to announce the full lineup for the upcoming 2024 season presented by Confederation Bridge. The upcoming season features the return of some fan favourite concerts and artists, new musicians, diverse genres spanning from celtic to classical, and incredible talent from all over Canada, including a new series highlighting PEI talent. With engaging music and community events idyllically set overlooking beautiful Malpeque Bay, Under the Spire’s 2024 season feels like it could be right out of a fairytale.

P.E.I. weather app offers real-time readings from 60 locations

A researcher at UPEI has created a new web-based P.E.I. weather and climate app that gives real-time readings and historical information from across the Island.

"Currently on this app, we have about 60 weather stations showing — in real time — temperature, precipitation, wind speed and humidity," said Xander Wang, an assistant professor in the school of climate change and adaptation at UPEI.

"We also have historical data for climate, so that the people can go into this app to check the current weather conditions but also for the historical conditions."
