We will be visiting Montreal and Quebec City, for the first time, from 9/4-9/11 - probably flying into Montreal and driving to QC for a few days. What's happening that week? We especially like films, exploring markets and parks, and the theatre. We do not speak French - would this be a problem for viewing French films in Quebec? Also, what sights should we NOT miss in the surrounding environs, given that we will have a car? Please advise!

You should go to Pub Mckibbons on rue Bishop in Montreal. It is owned by French-Canadiens but frequented from (really friendly) people all over Canada and Europe. Great Celtic bands and a new addition to the third floor including a dance floor, say hello to Dean Laderoute! p.s. Go to mass at The Basilique de Notre Dame. The organs are unreal, not to mention the incredible carvings and beauitful detail of the auditorium.
