evening dining and entertainment in Ottawa

We're heading to our beloved, clean, Canada for Labor Day, specifically Ottawa and looking for delicious restaurants, not too terribly fancy, but high quality, fresh food. Also, it would be great to hear some good music. Any recommendations would be appreciated!

Whalesbone is a good oyster bar -- pricey but smart, in an 'edgy"/ marginal location on Bank Street. Very hip.

In the Byward Market, try Domus, one of the best in Ottawa but not too fancy. In the west end, the Wellington Gastropub is casual but with excellent food. Other good choices are Beckta and E18teen. The best Italian restaurants are on Preston Street, just west of downtown.

There's lots of good music, but it depends on what you are looking for.

Theres also Beckta on Nepean St. which is good, and also 'Ambiente' which I liked better over in New Edinburgh. The service and food was excellent, but I heard that the chef may have been leaving.
