Downtown Vancouver Hotels

Looking for a relatively inexpensive hotel in downtown Vancouver. Something close to the nightlife, if possible.

When you're in downtown Vancouver, you get what you pay for. What I mean is, if you want cheap - like, really cheap - there's a good chance you could end up in a seedy/slummy area of downtown that tourists generally wouldn't want to venture to.

Saying that, what kind of nightlife are you interested in? Check out www.clubvibes.com and that will give you an idea of what Vancouver has to offer. Because the downtown nightlife is spread out, there' no one exact place I could reccommend. If you're into hostels, stay at the Global Backpackers hostel as it's relatively cheap and it's on Granville Street next to a bunch of clubs/bars (The Roxy, Babalu's, Fred's Uptown Tavern). Their website is up at www.globalbackpackers.com

The Sylvia Hotel is a cute hotel right on English Bay. You've got the Denman Street and Davie Street nightlife in this area, however, the majority of the clubs are situated in the Gastown/Granville Street/Richards Street/Yaletown area.

Just an idea: that Clubvibes site has a Forum where you might want to ask this question.

Define "inexpensive". I am vacationing in Vancouver right now, staying at the Sheraton Wall Center... fabulous service, wonderful staff... perfect location, Internet access... check the web rates.

Pacific Palisades Hotel and the Residences on Georgia...neither are super cheap but well priced for what you get. They have kitchenette and separate living and sleeping areas. Easy walk to Robson Street.
