Downtown Toronto Hotel in May
Plan on traveling from Ohio to Toronto in May for 4 days with another couple. We will be going to several Bluejay games. Any hotel suggestions? No budget, really. Park Hyatt's rates are $319CA. Would love to find a better deal, but willing to pay for good location near stadium, fun bars and restaurants. Most likely won't be in the room much. Looked at the Renaissance at the SkyDome, too, but don't know much about it or others. Thanks for any help!

tehre are lots of hotels close to the ball park. SkyDome hotel is good, Ramada on the waterfront is good, you can walk from the Hilton, the Westin, the Fairmont Royal York, the Holiday Inn on King, the Strathcona or Victoria(the bargains of the bunch) or the Novatel, and the Crown Plaza is attached by walkways to Skydonme.

If it was me, I'd stay close to the ball park. There are lots of good restautants, other things to see, and more.

The Hyatt, nice as it is , is too far way. Go to that neighborhood (Yorkville) for half a day, but since you are going to more than one ball game, stay near the park.

BAK

Again, sorry for the duplicate post. Thanks for all the suggestions. It helps to know that the Hyatt is not that close to the SkyDome. Hard to tell on a map. I'm going to check out Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn King St. Area sounds like a lot of fun. Now the Indians need to win a game while we are there (sorry Bluejay fans -- I'm only asking for one win, not the entire Bluejay series.)

We stayed at the Skydome Hotel 2 years ago. It was an experience to stay in a hotel built into the side of a ballpark - you could see the field from several restaurants and after the game watch them close the roof from the bar. Rooms are odd shaped since they conform to the side of the ballpark. It is certainly not the best of the cheapest, but service, food and accomodations were very good and the experience was worth it.

The Holiday Inn on KIng,the Crowne Plaza and the Fairmont Royal York are the closest. There is another Marriott in the Eaton Centre which is also not too far away. Don't forget Toronto is quite safe to walk at night as well as the daytime and you'll probably be walking a lot.Have a good time and make sure you see more than baseball.
