Discover Card widely accepted in Canada?

Discover Card widely accepted in Canada?
We'll be visiting Toronto and Ottawa in June. I was wondering if Discover is widely accepted in Canada. Of course, I'll bring my VISA too just in case.<BR>

Discover Card is known, but I would certainly have aback-up VIsa or AMEX

Since Discover Cards are only available to US citizens and US permanent residents, there is no business case for Canadian merchants to accept them - and I have never seen one that does, except for Internet transactions.

I've found that many larger establishments (hotels & restaurants) in Montreal, Quebec & Mont Tremblant take Discover, but often smaller places don't. Always ask if they take "Novus" cards, and not just "Discover" because that's what it's known as there.
